00 p.m., an on-duty Sergeant assigned to Rampart Division was preparing a handgun for an upcoming qualification when a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) occurred.
One round was discharged into the lower shelf of a cabinet, striking a book where it came to rest. No officers or community members were injured as a result of this incident.
Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
