Assault with Gun & Kidnapping: Arrest in SE DC

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Division announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Parental Kidnapping offense that occurred Monday, April 3, 2023, in the 400 block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast.

At approximately 12:09 am, the suspect and victim were engaged in an argument at the listed location. During the argument, the suspect assaulted the victim with a handgun. The suspect then kidnapped their child and fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The child was later safely located.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 45-year-old Alvin Young, Jr., of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Parental Kidnapping. The detectives’ investigation revealed this offense was domestic in nature.
