The following officers were terminated during a disciplinary hearing on August 5, 2024, with Chief Garcia:
Police Officer Shawn Couch, #11240, was terminated for violating the off-duty employment policy, violating the Expanded Neighborhood Patrol policy, engaging in adverse conduct when he received pay for off-duty employment when he did not work and giving untruthful statements during an Administrative Investigation.
Senior Corporal Joshua Cooper, #9920, was terminated for engaging in adverse conduct when Murphy police officers found him sleeping behind the wheel of a running vehicle and was subsequently issued a citation for Public Intoxication by the Murphy Police Department.
