The Dallas Department continues to investigate the 2021 murder of 19-year-old John “Lil John” Hightower.
On July 4, 2021, Mr. Hightower was in the 3000 block of South Street, enjoying the Fourth of July fireworks with friends, when he was caught in a gun battle between unknown suspects. Mr. Hightower was shot once and transported to a local hospital. On July 6, 2021, Mr. Hightower died from his injury.
