10pm Dallas Police on patrol responded to calls regarding gunfire in the 4500 Collins Avenue. The preliminary investigation determined a large party had ended nearby and the crowd moved into the street. When officers arrived the gunfire had stopped. Officers remained nearby, monitoring the crowd.
A few hours later, around 1:35 am, shots were fired again, hitting nine people in the crowd.
Seven women and two men were taken to local hospitals by Dallas Fire Rescue and in private vehicles.
One woman, 21-year-old Coriesha Bradford, died at a local hospital.
The other eight adult victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and are expected to survive.
The preliminary investigation determined one person began firing shots in the crowd, then others fired weapons. There is no suspect description at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, detectives believe there was gang involvement.
