00 am, officers responded to a call for service at a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation determined the driver and front passenger, 22-year-old Elian Murrugarra, were traveling southbound I35 passing Woodall Rodgers Freeway when they crashed into the suspect’s vehicle. As the driver was pulling over, an unknown suspect shot into the victim’s vehicle hitting Murrugarra. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
On January 29, 2024, Murrugarra died from his injuries, and the case was reassigned to the Homicide Unit.
There is no suspect information at this time.
