Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, July 15, 2024, through Monday, July 22, 2024, MPD detectives and officers recovered 42 firearms in the District of Columbia.

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P9 EZ 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Banner Lane, Northwest. CCN: 24-108-727
  • A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4900 block of Eads Place, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Isaiah Rasheed Boyd, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Lawrence Chambers, of Silver Spring, MD, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction of Property, Fugitive from Justice, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus G3C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of 35th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Howard Bruce Randolph, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Simple Assault, Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Joseph Robinson, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, National Firearms Act, Prohibited Possession of Certain Dangerous Weapons, and Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Ruger Speed Six .357 caliber revolver was recovered in the 4300 block of Third Street, Southeast. CCN: 24-110-167

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 assault rifle was recovered in the 2700 block of Naylor Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 15-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Robbery. CCN: 24-110-517
  • A Ruger 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 800 block of H Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Taniya P.   • A Ruger LCP Max .380 caliber handgun and a Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest.   • A Sig Sauer P-320 .45 caliber handgun, a Kahr Arms CM-40 .40 caliber handgun, a Kel-Tec P-380 .380 caliber handgun, Jimenez Arms J-22 .22 caliber handgun, and a Taurus PT-140 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 2800 block of Hartford Street, Southeast. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from D.C. streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover illegal firearms falls on the shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.
