The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are investigating the circumstances of a traffic collision resulting in a fatality.
On Thursday, January 4, 2024 around 12:05 a.m., a pedestrian was walking southbound Sepulveda Boulevard south of Century Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk. A late-model, gray, Chevy sports utility vehicle (SUV) was travelling southbound Sepulveda Boulevard and collided with the pedestrian. The driver of the Chevy SUV failed to remain at scene, identify themselves, or render aid to the pedestrian as required by law.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at scene. The victim has not been identified and is described as a female Hispanic between 20 to 25 years old. The investigation is ongoing.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
