Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5300 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 10:45 p.m. on Monday (March 17).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer T. Hudson reported:
The male was being chased by several people from the service road by the main lanes of the East Freeway near Lockwood Drive. The male then ran across lanes of moving traffic on the freeway and was struck by a red Nissan Altima and a brown Toyota RAV4. Both drivers stopped and remained at the scene.
The male was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. The male drivers of the Altima and Toyota, 23 and 54, respectively, were questioned and released.
At this time, the circumstances of the incident prior to the crash are undetermined. The investigation is continuing.
