Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3300 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (January 4).
The identity of the deceased male, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer C. Moralez reported:
The male ran across the freeway near the above address and stopped in one of the southbound main lanes. The driver of a blue Volkswagen Atlas traveling southbound attempted to avoid the male, but was unable to do so and struck him. The driver continued to the first available exit and called police.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The male driver, 46, showed no signs of impairment and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
