The FEVS is a government-wide, Office of Personnel Management administered survey for federal civilian employees first available in 2002. The survey includes questions about employees’ work-life, job and organizational satisfaction, commitment, engagement, performance management and communication. The 2023 FEVS also includes questions to measure performance confidence and employee perception of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
FEVS results allows managers to identify where improvement efforts have been successful and where improvements within a specific work unit may be necessary.
Based on concerns expressed in the survey, the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command conducted supervisor training on appraisal processes, award options and methods to address poor performance. The command’s goal has been to improve communication on information about civilian employees.
FEVS data points have guided Air Force Global Strike Command’s creation of barrier analysis working groups related to recruitment, retention and promotion.
Air Force Material Command has incorporated their FEVS results into a Demographic Diversity Dashboard. Additionally, survey data is used for barrier analysis review of practices, policies and procedures.
Eligible civilian employees employed as of Nov. 30, 2022 will receive a link for the survey via an email from OPM. The survey invitation and OPM reminder emails will come from “Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey-AF
