A Plum Borough resident has been indicted on federal charges of violating narcotics and firearm laws. Taiwan Donje Rodgers, 25, was named as the sole defendant in the two-count Indictment, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania announced today.
According to the indictment, on May 18, 2020, Rodgers unlawfully possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin and a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl. The indictment also states that Rodgers, as a convicted felon, possessed firearms and ammunition, which is prohibited by federal law.
If convicted, Rodgers faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000 or both. The sentence will be determined by the seriousness of the offenses and the defendant’s prior criminal history, if any, according to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The Duquesne Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation leading to the indictment. Assistant United States Attorney Carl J. Spindler is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. It is important to note that an indictment is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
