Hagerstown Man Confesses in Drug Trafficking Case

Hagerstown, Maryland resident Daniel Inoa-Rodriguez has admitted to his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy that operated across several states.

Court documents indicate that Inoa-Rodriguez, also known as “Danny,” was recorded in wiretapped phone calls discussing drug deliveries with other known defendants. In one conversation, Inoa-Rodriguez talked about $30,000 in drug proceeds and his plans to travel to the Dominican Republic to deliver the money.

As a result of the intercepted communications, agents were able to seize the cash before Inoa-Rodriguez boarded a plane at JFK Airport in March 2021. Court documents also reveal that Inoa-Rodriguez was present at multiple drug transactions that took place at Top 3 Sources, a business in Hagerstown. These crimes occurred from August 2020 to June 2021 in Berkeley County and other locations.

Inoa-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to one count of “Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and to Distribute Heroin, Fentanyl, Cocaine Base, and Cocaine Hydrochloride.” He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000. The actual sentence will be determined based on the severity of the offenses and Inoa-Rodriguez’s criminal history, if any.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the West Virginia Air National Guard, the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, and various local law enforcement agencies. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher and was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble.
