Houston Man Dead Following Traffic Collision: Police

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic crash that killed a man in Northeast, DC.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at approximately 12:55 a.m. an unknown vehicle, traveling westbound in the 2500 block of Benning Road, Northeast, struck a pedestrian, who was standing in the middle of the 2500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs consisted with life and the victim remained on the scene until being transported to The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The Pedestrian has been identified as 54-year-old Maurice Oliver, of Northeast, DC.
