Houston police have released surveillance photos of a suspect and a person of interest sought in the fatal shooting of a man at 6303 Eastland Street that occurred about 2:40 p.m. on Monday (October 9).
The suspect, described only as a heavy-set black male, fled the scene in a gray 2023 Toyota Camry bearing Texas license plates TFR2377 with two other unidentified males. Surveillance photos of the suspect, one of the males and the wanted vehicle are attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 49, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective J. Gardner reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a convenience store parking lot at the above address and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene indicated the victim got into a physical altercation with the male suspect which led to the shooting.
