The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in Northeast.
On Monday, September 2, 2024, at approximately 6:42 a.m., officers responded to a call for a man down in the 5100 block of Sheriff Road, Northeast. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was pronounced dead on the scene.
The decedent has been identified as 51-year-old Herbert Jones of Northeast, DC.
Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police
