The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast.
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 9:52 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to 5200 block of Just Street, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Once on the scene officers located an adult male unconscious and not breathing suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital and after finding no signs consistent with life the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Corey Ward Jr, of Northeast, DC.
Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police
