The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of the suspect responsible for a stabbing spree that left six people injured in the Trinidad community in Northeast.
On Thursday, April 3, 2025, at approximately 3:21 p.m., Fifth District officers were called to the 1200 block of Meigs Place, Northeast for the report of multiple stabbing victims. Officers arrived on the scene in under one minute and immediately began providing lifesaving care to the victims. DC Fire and EMS transported four adult females and two adult males to local hospitals for treatment. All six victims remain stable, and their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
The investigation revealed that the suspect was under the influence of an unknown substance while walking in the 1200 block of Meigs Place, Northeast, with a female acquaintance. Suddenly, the suspect began to violently attack the female with a knife. The suspect then stabbed himself, made threatening statements and ran toward a group of bystanders. The suspect attacked four additional victims in that group and then fled northbound on Montello Avenue, Northeast, where he attacked a sixth victim.
Good Samaritans from the community chased the suspect and were able to subdue him before he approached additional bystanders near the intersection of Montello Avenue and Mt. Olivet Road, Northeast.
Members of the Fifth District Crime Suppression Team were in the area and quickly took the suspect into custody without incident. The knife used during the attack was recovered. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. 34-year-old Kevin Steve Andrade, of Southeast is charged with six counts of Assault with Intent to Kill.
