The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Valley Traffic Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance for any information on a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in the area of Oxnard Street and Woodman Avenue.
On February 3, 2023 at 10:15 P.M., a dark-colored vehicle was traveling westbound on Oxnard Street from Woodman Avenue when it collided with a pedestrian that was traveling southbound on Oxnard Street. The dark-colored vehicle fled the scene westbound on Oxnard Street. The hit-and-run driver failed to stop, identify themselves, or attempt to render aid to the pedestrian that sustained fatal injuries.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The pedestrian was as a Hispanic male approximately 50-years-old. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
The public is also reminded that as pedestrians, they should exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification,
apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
