The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) South Traffic Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance for any information on a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in the area of Pacific Avenue and Channel Street.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a cyclist, was struck while riding his bicycle northbound on Pacific Avenue just south of Channel Street by an unknown vehicle that was also travelling northbound on Pacific Avenue. The collision caused the Victim to be ejected from his bicycle and collide with the roadway. The vehicle that collided with cyclist fled the scene, did not stop to render aid to the Victim, and/or ID themselves.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and the victim was pronounced dead. The victim has not been identified and family has not been notified.
The vehicle is described as a small light-colored vehicle. If anyone has any information on the vehicle, please notify South Traffic Detectives immediately.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
The public is also reminded that as pedestrians, they should exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification,
apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
