SE Burglary Suspect Nabbed by MPD

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a burglary of an establishment in Southeast.

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at approximately 5:04 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to an establishment in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast, for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers located a suspect who had unlawfully entered the establishment. The suspect had attempted to flee; however, they were apprehended by officers on the scene.

59-year-old Francis Smith of Southeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with Burglary Two and Destruction Of Property.
