Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic Division are investigating the circumstances of a severe injury hit-and-run traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
On August 5, 2023, around 9:00 p.m., a female pedestrian was crossing Figueroa Street at 82nd Street, when a dark-colored sedan struck her, causing severe injuries. The driver exited the vehicle, looked at the pedestrian, then ran back to his vehicle without rendering aid or complying with the law. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle northbound Figueroa Street and turned eastbound onto 82nd Street. Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the pedestrian to a local hospital in critical condition.
Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
