Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 5600 South Lake Houston Parkway about 6:40 p.m. on September 2, 2023.
The suspect, Nikko Luiz Meza, 30, is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. A booking photo of Meza, in custody at the Salt Lake County Jail in Utah, is not available at this time.
He is accused in the killing of Sebastian Angel, 30.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives N. Nguyen, J. Flores, D. Davis and D. Lunceford reported:
HPD patrol and Dive Team officers responded to Greens Bayou at the above address after a passerby observed a body in the water. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the male, later identified as Mr. Angel, had suffered at least two gunshot wounds.
Further investigation led to the identity of Meza as the suspect. It was also determined the shooting occurred at 5001 South Lake Houston Parkway.
On April 2 (2025), Meza was charged with murder in the case. The following day, he was apprehended by members of the U.S. Marshals Service at his residence in the state of Utah. Meza was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
