Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 15800 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 3 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 10).
The suspect, Rene M. Guzman-Santos, 31, is charged with murder and intoxicated assault in the 208th State District Court. A booking photo of Guzman-Santos, who is hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The deceased female victim is identified as Jennifer Rosales, 40.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The victim was driving a white GMC Acadia northbound on the freeway at the above address when her vehicle was struck by a brown Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling the wrong way (southbound) in the northbound lanes.
Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The male driver (suspect Guzman-Santos) of the Chevrolet and two juvenile passengers – a male, 13 and a female, 6 – were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was determined Guzman-Santos showed visible signs of intoxication. He was subsequently charged and will be booked into the Harris County Jail once he is released from the hospital.
