Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman at 14220 South Wayside Drive about 4:50 a.m. last Friday (February 28).
The suspect, Quentin Deshawn Collins, 32, is charged with aggravated assualt of a family member in the 495th State District Court. A booking photo of Collins is attached to this news release.
The victim, 37, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Family Violence Division Detective L. Garcia reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing call at an apartment complex at the above address and learned the victim and her boyfriend (Collins) got into a domestic dispute. During the argument, Collins grabbed and pointed a knife at the victim and threatened to kill her. The victim attempted to escape by climbing over the patio fence. Collins chased her, stabbed her more than once and then fled the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the female to the hospital. Collins returned to the scene and was detained by responding HPD officers. Collins suffered a laceration to his right hand as he was being detained by officers and was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Collins was subsequently charged and transported to the Harris County Jail.
