Suspects Charged in Gulf Freeway Stabbing Death

Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 6000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 10:20 p.m. on March 14.

The suspects, Crisanto Caal Ba, 27, and Daniel Salvador Caal Ba, 26, are charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. Booking photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Otto Pop Coc, 23.

HPD Homicide Division E. Torres, A. Graf and A. Ledford reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing call at the above address and learned a male was running on the roadway asking for help. A witness, who did not observe the stabbing but saw the victim with blood on his shirt, provided medical assistance and called 9-1-1. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim, later identified as Mr. Pop Coc, deceased.

At that time, there was no known motive or suspect(s) description.

Further investigation identified the Caal Ba brothers as suspects in this case. Daniel was in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge and, after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, was also charged in this incident.

Crisanto was arrested on Tuesday (March 25) without incident and was subsequently charged for his role. He was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
