Suspects Charged in June Infant Death at 3300 Cummins

Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the death of an infant at 3300 Cummins Street about 7:40 a.m. on June 23, 2024.

The suspects, JaMari Mari Bailey, 21, and Marybeth Clarisa Rodriguez, 22, are charged with injury to a child – serious bodily injury in the 184th State District Court. Booking photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.

They are accused for their roles in the death of a baby boy, two months old.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan reported:

On June 16, 2024. Bailey and Rodriguez brought their baby to an urgent care center as he appeared ill. Due to the severity of his injuries, the baby was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital. Doctors pronounced the baby deceased on June 23.

Further investigation determined the baby had suffered extensive injuries and trauma. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Rodriguez and Bailey were subsequently charged. Rodriguez and Bailey were arrested on Wednesday (April 9) without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
