Tampa Police Nab Suspect in Armed Robbery Attempt

TAMPA, FL. (April 3, 2025) – – An early morning armed robbery suspect was quickly taken into custody by Tampa Police thanks to a detailed description of the suspect and the swift response of officers.

On April 3, 2025, at approximately 6:14 am, an adult black male was walking in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven, located at 4943 E Busch Blvd. The victim was approached by the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Alec Holmes (black male, 9/13/1994), who was armed with a handgun and demanded money.

Thankfully, the victim was able to flee from the scene without injury and call the police. Witnesses provided a detailed description of the suspect, which was relayed to responding officers.

Tampa Police arrived quickly, locating and detaining Holmes who was still lingering in the area. After positive identification, Holmes was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (attempted), Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was transported to Orient Road Jail.
