Washington – On January 28th, 2025, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent held a virtual introductory meeting with Finance Minister Kastunobu Kato of Japan. Secretary Bessent stressed the importance of close U.S.-Japan collaboration on economic and security issues in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond, and emphasized that he looks forward to a very productive working relationship with Minister Kato.
