The U.S. is weighing the option of sending Bradley Armored Vehicles to aid Ukraine in defending against Russia’s ongoing invasion, President Joe Biden hinted Wednesday.
Biden was asked before Air Force One departure from Kentucky where he met with Senator McConnell whether providing the tracked armored fighting vehicle to Ukraine was on the table, he responded “yes” without elaborating.
Q: What about Bradley Fighting Vehicles for Ukraine? Is that on the table?
Biden: Yes.
He also said there was a talk of foreign policy, about Ukraine with Senator McConnell.
President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were together in Covington, Kentucky to highlight their bipartisan accomplishment of passing the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that was signed into law in 2021. The event marked Biden’s first domestic trip of the year and was meant to demonstrate that even in a divided Congress, the White House sees opportunities for bipartisanship.
The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a tracked armored platform designed to transport infantry or scouts with armor protection while providing covering fire. It is produced by BAE Systems Land & Armaments and has several variants, including the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and the M3 Bradley reconnaissance and infantry fighting vehicle. The M2 has a crew of three and can hold six fully equipped soldiers, while the M3 is primarily used for scout missions and can carry two scouts in addition to its regular crew of three.
